Jill: “Want to go to the movies tonight?”
Bob: “Can’t, I’ve been saddled with my sister’s kids for the evening.”
When someone gives us a job that we find burdensome and annoying, we say we are “saddled with” it. A saddle is something you put on a horse, so you can sit on it while riding. Does the horse find it as annoying as we find these tasks?

誰かに面倒な仕事をやらされるとき、「saddled with」と言います。「Saddle」は鞍、馬につけて、乗るときにその上に座るものです。馬もこんな風に鞍が嫌なのでしょうか？
