To take someone for a ride is to cheat them, usually for money or some other benefit.
「店員が最新型だと言ったのに！」
「騙されたみたいね」
「友達を信頼してお金の投資を任せたけど騙されてしまった。」
誰かを車で連れていくみたいな言い方ですが、だましてお金などを取るという意味です。
