Imagine being punched in the face. If you stand there and accept the punch, you “take it on the chin”. We use this to mean accepting something bad, such as an attack or misfortune, without complaint. It can show bravery or stoicism.
「委員会にダメ出しされたけど、潔く受け止めた。」
顔を殴られるイメージです。潔く受け止めると、「顎で受ける」と言います。攻撃や悪運を文句言わずに受け止めることを表します。勇敢もしくは我慢強い態度です。
