時間が過ぎるのを待っているだけのときは、passing timeまたはkilling timeと言います。何かを待っている場合（例えばバスが来るまで本を読んでいる）、特にすることがないから暇をつぶしている場合があります。退屈しのぎのために何かどうでもいいことをします。
When we’re just waiting for time to pass, we say we’re “passing time” or “killing time”. We might be waiting for something specific to happen—like reading a book while waiting for the bus—or just not have anything in particular to do. We often do something unimportant in order to avoid being bored as time passes.
