“If you ask me, he should just apologize.”
You will occasionally hear someone say “if you ask me” while giving their opinion. It can be rude to give your opinion on things that aren’t related to you, but it’s usually okay to give your opinion when you have been asked. However, we usually use this phrase when we weren’t actually asked!
「私に言わせれば、さっさと謝ったほうがいい。」
意見を言うときに「私に聞くなら」という表現を使うことがあります。自分に関係ないことに意見を言うのは失礼な場合がありますが、直接聞かれたら普通は大丈夫でしょう。ですが、このフレーズはいつも聞かれていないときに使うことが多いです。
