“I love to make my friends smile.”
Often we use the word “make” to mean “to force someone or something to do something”, but this is not always what it means. It’s good to make someone smile, but you shouldn’t force them! “Make” means that the smile would not have happened if you hadn’t done anything. In contrast, “let” means you don’t do anything to stop something from happening.
「友達を笑顔にするのが大好き」
「Make」という単語をよく「誰か又は何かを無理矢理に何かをさせる」という意味で使いますが、いつもそのような意味とは限りません。誰かを笑顔にするのはいいことですが、無理矢理笑わせるのはダメです！「Make」を使うのは、何かをしなければ笑顔がなかったからです。それと違って「let」は止めさえしなければ勝手に起こることに使います。
