If you keep up with something, it means you don’t fall behind. If you can’t keep up with your friend, you might be left behind. You should also try to “keep up” on housework—if you are left behind, many chores will pile up and the house will be a mess.

「Keep up」は付いていくこと、置いて行かれないことです。友達に着いていけないなら置いて行かれてしまうかもしれません。家事なども「付いていける」ように頑張りましょう。「おいていかれたら」やるべき家事がたまってしまって、家が散らかってしまいます。
