A Vanishing Symbol of the Prairies of Canada
This is a grain elevator. For many years farmers brought their grain, usually wheat, to the grain elevator after the harvest. From grain elevators across the prairies freight trains would collect the grain and carry it to the ships that would carry it around the world.
カナダの平原の消えゆくシンボル
これは麦エレベーターです。何年もの間、農家の人たちは穀物(主に小麦)を収穫後、エレベーターまで運んできました。エレベーターから貨物列車に集められた穀物は平原を渡って、船で世界中へ運ばれて行きます。
