January 21 is Squirrel Appreciation Day (started by a wildlife rehabilitator in 2001). Squirrels are rodents that live in trees and eat nuts. Squirrels bury nuts to eat during the winter. Sometimes they forget about some of the nuts, and the leftover nuts sprout new trees.

1月21日は（2001年に野生動物リハビリ療法士が定めた）リスの日です。リスは木に住んで木の実を食べる齧歯動物です。リスは冬の間に食べる木の実を土に埋めます。たまに、埋めた木の実のことを忘れてしまうため、土の中に残った実から新しい木々が芽生えます。
