The Internet can be a useful tool for practicing English (or for English-speakers to practice other languages) but it sometimes has its own jargon. If you are chatting online with an English speaker and they say “AFK” it means they will be “away from keyboard” for a while. We say this to let our chat partner know that we won’t be able to respond to their messages right away but we aren’t ignoring them.
インターネットは英語の練習（ネイティブスピーカーには他言語の練習）に便利な手段ですが、良く使われる専門用語があります。英語で誰かとチャットをしているときに「AFK」と言われたら、それは away from keyboard （キーボードから離れる）すなわち「ちょっと席を外します」という意味です。すぐに返事ができないけれど、無視していないですよと相手に伝えるために使います。
