Challenge: Another translation of 頑張って or 頑張っています。In English, challenge is mainly used in one of two ways. We would say, ‘I challenge you to a game of tennis,’ meaning I want to play you at tennis (because I want to beat you.) This is now somewhat old-fashioned. More often these days, we use challenge to describe something that is difficult, or difficult yet rewarding, e.g. ‘My new job is a bit of a challenge.’ チャレンジ is Japanese.
日本語ではチャレンジは「頑張って」や「頑張っています」という意味で使われます。英語の「challenge」は主にふたつの使い方をします。「テニスであなたにチャレンジします」と言って、（相手を倒したいので）テニスで勝負を申し込む。今では少し古風です。近頃ではよく「challenge」を使って、難しいこと、または難しいけどやり甲斐のあることを表します。例えば、「新しい仕事は少しチャレンジです。」カタカナのチャレンジはやはり日本語です。
