In English, a person’s given name comes before their family name. But when writing a list of names, for example the list of students in a class, we often put the family name first, followed by a comma and the given name. We use the family name to put people in alphabetical order, so it’s much easier this way. Also, people in the same family will be next to each other on the list.
英語で名前を言う時、名が先で姓が後に来ますが、学校の出席簿などを書く時は、通常姓を先に書いて、コンマ（,）の後に名を書きます。アルファベット順の場合、姓を先に書くので、こうするほうがより分かりやすいです。それと、同じ家族の人はリストに並んで書かれます。
